Dreamgirls, 2017
Drawing upon the ideas behind the double exposure portraiture of the Surrealists and the visual style of contemporary double exposure photography, I have created a photo series that explores the different personalities of three women in my life. I have worked closely with the subjects to figure out how they wish to be portrayed, and digitally create multiple exposure images that show the complexity and differing layers of female identity that are so often overlooked in favour of conventional beauty and soft aesthetic styling in double exposure photography.
