Flying Inside Your Own Body, 2016
Using Margaret Atwood’s “Flying Inside Your Own Body” poem, create an 8 page zine that illustrates your own interpretation of the poem. The zine should be printed on one double sided A4 page, and should be digitally reproducible. My interpretation of the poem focused on themes of dreaming, utilising space imagery as a metaphor for the stages of sleep. The spreads get gradually darker along with the content of the text, also reflecting the level of sleep being represented. The zine primarily uses collage, with various illustrated and watercoloured elements woven in throughout. The final digital productions are printed on watercolour paper and are stitch bound with black cotton.
