Indiefest, 2017
The poster for the Australian Independent Record Labels Association’s Indiefest has been designed with the specific audience of the event in mind. As an advertisement for an independent music festival, featuring predominantly rock and punk acts, the poster utilises a visual style inspired by punk concert posters from the seventies. The poster features a mix of collage, hand written text, illustration, grunge-inspired crayon textures, and digital text that has been printed, physically manipulated/deteriorated and scanned back in, in order to create visuals that will engage indie rock audiences. The Australian Independent Record Labels Association’s manifesto is also incorporated as a collage element. The poster utilises a minimal colour palette, again harking back to traditional punk concert posters. The poster folds into a flyer for convenient display and distribution.
