The Hidden Universe of my Desk Drawers
A 36 page perfect bound book detailing items of stationery reimagined as constellations.
I started with developing scissors and a scalpel, as these were the items that first popped into mind when brainstorming around the concept. Some stationery items were easy to translate into a constellation style, while others, such as the highlighter, took much longer to refine. When it came to naming my reimagined constellations,I first researched the names of existing western/roman constellations. I began to realise that I knew a number of these constellations by both their english and roman names, and so decided to include a mix of both naming styles in my book. The english titles typically featured adjectives that reflect their size or importance, modelled after english constellation names, while the roman-inspired titles utilise suffixes of real constellations.
